What's Cosmocon?

Cosmocon is a con-event held in Seinäjoki, this time at SeAMK’s (Seinäjoki’s University of Applied Sciences) Frami F -building. Our space-themed convention has a bunch of fancy things in store, such as an artist alley, cosplay competition, presentations about various topics, and more! On Saturday the event starts at 11:00 and ends 19:00. On Sunday the event starts at 11:00 and ends 17:00.

Tickets cost 15€ for whole weekend, 10€ for saturday and 8€ for sunday.

Where and how I'll get there?

Frami F’s address is Kampusranta 11, 60100 Seinäjoki. The building is rather recognizable from the rest, with a brown grid plates covering it. From Seinäjoki’s train station or center to the event place, is roughly a 2km distance. You can travel to the area by foot along Kalevankatu across the bridge. There are also few parking lots in the area, so if you’re coming with a vehicle, be sure to come early! Note that the area near Frami F building (Jouppilantie 23) is not available for parking during the event.

Please note that the building is closed to SeAMK students during the event, and only the first floor is available for visitors!

Food & snack

You may bring your own snacks with you, just be mindful of your surroundings. Take others in account and clean your surroundings if needed. You may leave and re-enter the event with your ”event wristband”, so feel free to go eat somewhere. The center and Ideapark are rather near the area. Alcohol and other types of drugs are forbidden in the event.

Item storage

Cosmocon doesn’t have a separate storage service. There are several spots to hang your jackets and coats near the entrance. All items left to these areas are left at one’s own risk.

Payment methods

We recommend to prepare some cash for the event, since some of the sellers might not have access to a card payment or other means. The shopping center Ostoskulma (Puskantie 13) as well Ideapark(Suupohjantie 57) has an ATM.

However, you can by a ticket from the entrance by a card (if there are any available at that point).

General rules

Everyone’s welcome to Cosmocon as they are. We have zero tolerance for all kinds of racism and discrimination. We follow the safe space principles in our event and we expect the same from our attendees .

Here’s some tips if you’re new to the event:

  • Listen to and follow the event guidelines, and follow the staffs guidance.
  • Respect others and their properties. This is not only regarding the sellers’ counters, but as well the attendees’ and SeAMK’s property, too.
  • Do not get frustrated, if you have to wait in an queue. Some counters might have a lot of traffic, but you’ll get your turn to do your shopping!
  • Presentations and workshops do not have an advanced registration. Instead we take attendees in as much as the room has space for a safe and cozy experience. Do not rush in to the room if you’re in hurry. You may leave the presentation/workshop any time you like, but we’d wish you take the other attendees into account and leave the room without too much of noise.
  • Please close your phone or set it to silent mode whenever you’re attending a presentation or workshop.
  • You may move freely in areas and rooms of the 1st floor (that are not locked). However, please be mindful regarding your surroundings and try avoid creating possible ”bottlenecks”.
  • If you want to take photos of cosplayers at the event, please ask the permission before taking a photo!
  • And most of all: take no pressure! Con-events are their own type of micro-cosmoses, that might feel weird at start and crowded space might feel distressing, but don’t let it be an obstacle. It is more than okay to go outside for an quick break and be by yourself.

Feel free to approach a staff member during the event if you have something in your mind or you notice something — we are here for you! Staff members can be spotted by having a dangling ”Staff” -event pass.

See you at the event!
